Dear Engaged Couple:
We are happy that you are taking this time to deepen your relationship and commitment to one another in a marriage preparation weekend. In a "Catholic Engaged Encounter", the team, consists of two married couples and a priest. The team gives talks and reflections on topics based on their own real life experiences. The topics include such things as communication, intimacy, God in marriage and becoming a family.
You and your fiance will have several opportunities to discuss and share privately with each other about how these talks relate to you both as an individual and as a couple.
We recommend that you register for a marriage preparation weekend as soon as you become engaged but no later than six months before your wedding date, since space is limited.
The weekend takes place at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, 18044 Tyotown Road in Cornwall. Registration begins at 7:15 p.m. on Friday evening. The Saturday morning sessions start at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 10:00 p.m. On Sunday, we reconvene at 8:00 a.m. The weekend concludes at about 3:00 p.m. Please note that Mass will be celebrated on Sunday.
The cost of the weekend is $150.00 per couple. The fee includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday, supper on Saturday, tea and coffee at the breaks and the course material. If you prefer juice or soft drinks, you should bring your own. The dress code is casual and comfortable.
Be assured this is not an experience of preaching! Throughout the weekend your uniqueness and privacy as a couple and as an individual are respected. You will be expected to participate and follow a discipline throughout the weekend. However, no one is obliged to speak or share his or her feelings or thoughts in groups.
